Frequently Asked Questions

Can I check in early or check out late?

We try to accommodate early check-ins or late check-outs whenever possible. As you’d expect, availability depends on whether other guests are checking in or out on the same day. You can request an early check-in or late check-out ahead of your stay. But because schedules and bookings are constantly changing, we’ll be unable to confirm the availability of either until just before your scheduled arrival at Hotel El Cid Palm Springs. Thanks for your patience! Please know that we always try to be flexible—but it does take a significant amount of time for the resort to be cleaned to our exacting standards.

Do you ever rent individual rooms or allow one-night stays?

Unfortunately, no. Because of our unconventional (un-hotel?) model, individual room rentals and single nights stays are not economically viable for us.

Does Hotel El Cid allow parties/events?

Palm Springs ordinances prohibit us from allowing parties that include non-registered guests. Noise ordinances are also in effect before 9am and after 9pm. We are committed to complying with those ordinances—and violations will be swiftly addressed. Events are allowed on a case-by-case basis. Larger events may require a city permit. Talk to us, though. We have lots of ideas (like our popular silent disco!).

Is Hotel El Cid ADA Accessible?

Hotel El Cid welcomes guests from all over the world—and we celebrate their diverse backgrounds and abilities. To us, accessibility is vitally important. Designed as a private sanctuary for one select group at a time, El Cid does not rent individual rooms. We do, however, strive to meet the needs of individuals within your group who might require special accommodations. To that end, we currently offer the following:

  • One dedicated ADA parking space (van accessible)

  • ADA accessible pathway from parking lot

  • One ADA accessible room

  • Queen bed with clear space of at least 30” on each side

  • Living room featuring wet bar with accessible counter and sink

  • ADA bathroom featuring roll-in shower with seat, ADA vanity and toilet

  • Fire safety system with visual alarm

We continue to make sensitive updates and modifications to the property (whenever readily achievable and financially feasible), so that every guest will feel comfortable and welcome.

Because disabilities are varied, we recommend calling or emailing us for more information.

Is El Cid good for small kids?

Because our pool is located on a walled and gated lot of its own, we do offer some advantages over hotels with an open pool area located just outside guest rooms. Our entire property is also single story, so there are no stairs to negotiate or balconies to worry about. Ultimately, only you can decide whether or not El Cid is right for your family. For those guests who do bring children, we have a limited number of high chairs and pack n plays available. Virtually everything else you might need—including cribs, gliding chairs, baby monitors, bikes, car seats, strollers, joggers etc. can be rented locally at Desert Baby Rentals (they deliver and pick up!). While cleaning products are mostly confined to one cabinet in the kitchen, please note that our cabinets do not have child-proof safety latches installed.

Do you allow dogs?

As much as we LOVE dogs (we have two of our own, Millie and Cleo), they tend to destroy our grass. Because the hotel is so popular, we’re unable to re-sod dead patches before the next guests arrive. For this reason alone, we ask that you leave your fur babies at home.
